Five Chinese sexual minority couples celebrated Valentine’s Day recently by taking wedding photos at several Beijing landmarks, such as Bird’s Nest (or Beijing National Stadium), Water Cube (or National Aquatics Center), Peking University, Tsinghua University, the Summer Palace, and so on, according to Beijing LGBT Center, a non-profit organization advocating LGBT rights in China, on Tuesday.
 
The photos show that the five couples including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and questioning (LGBTIQ) are raising slogans in such places, with some calling for equal marriage rights, some resisting family violence, some even joking about when they could get back their gift money that they had given to their heterosexual friends.
 
The photos were also spread on China’s social media, and received support from the Chinese Internet users.
 
“Getting married should be a legitimate right of every citizen,” a user said on Sina Weibo, a Twitter-like microblogging platform in China.
 
“I want to give 10,086 likes to the brave couples,” another said.
 
“Even a little spark of fire can fire the whole grassland, ” one said.
