1.    Mt. Wutaishan, Shanxi Province

 

Mt. Wutaishan is in the northeast of Shanxiprovince and about 230 kilometers away from Taiyuan, the capital city of Shanxi province. It is one of the Four Famous Buddhist Mountains (The other three are Mt. Emei in Sichuan province, Mt. Jiuhuashan in Anhui province and Mt.Putuo in Zhejiang province). Mt.Wutaishan was listed as a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2009. Steep peaks and precipitous cliffs can be seen everywhere when you are on the Mt. Wutaishan. The name of Mt.Wutaishanwas given by its five peaks which like five grant columns springing up and standing towered, but the crest of the peaks are as flat as stages. Mt. Wutaishan is a wonderful tourist destination with a combination of its natural landscape, art of ancient buildings, historical relics, Buddhist culture, local customs and summer resort.
