American cuisine with Chinese flavors on state dinner menu

Guests at Friday's White House state dinner for Chinese President Xi Jinping will dine on wild mushroom soup, Maine lobster and Colorado lamb.

Dessert will consist of poppy seed bread and butter pudding served with Meyer lemon lychee sorbet.

Chef Anita Lo was invited to help White House chefs create dishes that highlight American cuisine with nuances of Chinese flavors.

Lo is the Chinese-American chef-owner of a restaurant in New York's Greenwich Village.

Roses will decorate the East Room where hundreds of guests will sit down for dinner with President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle and Xi and his wife, Peng Liyuan.

Grammy Award-winning singer, composer and actor Ne-Yo will provide the after-dinner entertainment.

First lady Michelle Obama's office released the details Thursday.
