Standing at an altitude of 4,900 meters above sea level, Khunjerab Pass is the world’s highest frontier port on the bordering area between China and Pakistan. In Persian, Khunjerab means “Valley of Death” because of its extreme climate. The port only opens to tourists from May to October. It is over 470 kilometers away from Kashgar.
