Inspired by the global #racethetube trend, a man in Beijing recently raced the city subway and successfully caught up with it at the next stop recently.
Pan Hailong, a gym teacher at a private school in Beijing, sprinted out of the subway's doors at the Nanlishilu stop, ran up the stairs and along the road, then back into the Fuxingmen station, managing to jump inside the subway doors just before they closed—all in a total of two minutes and 24 seconds. The total distance is about 800 meters with 203 steps.
A video uploaded by London tube racer James Heptonstall back in August spawned a number of recreations showing runners across the world attempting the feat, recently in Taiwan and Hong Kong. Beijing producers iDarex said that Pan completed the task after two attempts.
