Classical Chinese chairs on display in Beijing

An art exhibition of classical Chinese chairs is underway at the Beijing World Art Museum of the China Millennium Monument. The exhibition runs until January 5, 2014.

Most of the exhibited chairs belong to the Ming (1368–1644) and Qing (1644–1911) dynasties, bringing the audience a glimpse of the traditional lifestyle.

Sitting is an instinct of human beings, but it contains deep social connotations. Seats are one of the typical items that best reflect the social and cultural features of a historical period.
