Hunan among top 5 tea producers in China


The press conference for the 2013 China Tea Expo, which is expected to be held in Jinan, Shandong Province from October 23 to 26, was held in Changsha on July 17. At the conference, Cao Yinghua, deputy director of the Department of Agriculture of Hunan Province, introduced that Hunan’s tea gardens cover an area of 1.63 million mu (about 0.1087 hectares) and its tea output achieved 0.135 million tons in 2012, ranking top five in China..


Cao also presented that Hunan’s eight different tea products have successively obtained the certification of Protection of National Products of Geographical Indication. Specially, two tea brands "Baishaxi" and "Junshan Yinzhen" have been accredited as landmark brands for dark green tea and yellow tea of China respectively. Besides, brands including "Junshan", "Monkey King", "Ship in the Desert", "Jinjing Tea", "Xiangfeng", "Yiqingyuan", "Baishaxi", "Xiangyi", "Tian Brand" and "Balingchun Tea" were granted as Hunan's top ten famous enterprise brands Moreover, all tea gardens in the province have passed the accreditation of pollution-free production place.
