Food firms highlight safety at industry event The 2013 China International Food Safety Technology & Innovation Expo opened at the China International Exhibition Center on June 17 in Beijing. Well-known domestic and foreign food enterprises, such as Nestle, Wal-Mart and COFCO, displayed their latest achievements and discussed cooperation opportunities in the field of food safety. The expo runs until June 19.

Food safety is drawing greater attention of the Chinese people following a number of food safety scandals in China recently. Food contamination not only affects the health of the current generation, but can also cause irreversible harm to the future generations. For instance, a fetus will very likely develop abnormally if the mother consumes polluted food over a long period.

Various companies are introducing healthy food or test machines in an effort to guarantee people’s health and a safer and brighter future for the food industry.
